Our take
Sharmilee has been run by the Gosai family on Belgrave Road since 1973, starting as a mithai shop and adding the vegetarian restaurant upstairs in 1988; it was reviewed by Jay Rayner in The Observer in March 2025. Everything is vegetarian, cooked fresh to order, with Gujarati farsan, undhiyu and an unlimited buffet among the draws. The menu sits alongside one of Leicester's oldest Indian sweet marts downstairs.
